Overview
A branding project for a new mug business centered in providing a cheeky motivational pick-me-up. Mean Mug’n inspires to crush negativity through the pleasantly-unpleasant mugs. The primary audience are overcomers, silent, witty warriors of our modern world.
challenge
I wanted to create a lovely yet quirky brand. I concluded that the duality of being “pleasantly unpleasant” would set the tone for the brand. Later, I’ve come to find that this duality would be the biggest challenge yet the most enjoyable.
solution
I knew I wanted my brand assets to be distinct, memorable, and pretty. With the flexibility and freedom to create any project of our own, I've come to find that bits of my own personality relected in the work created as ideas would flow naturally.
Logo Rationale
The logo embodies the duality of being pleasantly unpleasant through the foul smelling yet gorgeous Corpse Flower. The striking sword symbolizes the resilient and cut throat demeanor of the brand to be unapologetically you. Lastly, the endearing yet pesky fly that for some reason is invincible. No one can get rid of it. It swarms all throughout the brand. Nonetheless, it is resilient.
